How long have you worked at Origin CPA Group?
I started in January 2020, right before COVID hit.
What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
Take the time to put yourself in your client’s shoes and be mindful of them as a person and what might be happening in their lives at the moment.
What are the values that drive you?
Family is my number one value. Other values that drive me are trying to make life fun, continuously learning, integrity, and humor.
What is your favorite part about working on the OCG team?
We (OCG) work really well as a team. Everyone is willing to jump in to answer questions or help out. You don’t have to feel nervous asking another team member for help.
What charity organization are you most passionate about?
Dress for Success – Their ambition to help underprivileged women get into the workforce by helping them dress for interviews, train on how to write a resume or prepare for an interview is very admirable.
What would you do for a career if you weren’t doing this?
Where’s your favorite place in the world?
The beach – anywhere there is a beach. I love the ocean.
What is the one thing you can’t live without?
My people. These can be friends, family, my husband, co-workers, but it’s whoever I need at that time.
What advice would you provide to someone interested in tax or accounting?
With accounting, everyone thinks it’s super number-oriented, but a lot of it is also being people-oriented. You need to be compassionate about things happening in people’s lives and have the soft skills to manage them.
What is your favorite pastime?
Painting – anything crafty or artistic!
