How long have you worked at Origin CPA Group?
I started in January 2020.
What do you like most about your job?
I like getting to work with our clients that are involved in so many different kinds of things, like our entrepreneurs, engineers, and inventors.
What inspired you to go into a tax career?
The job found me. Our job is an administrative position in the tax industry. We can’t do taxes, but because of this job I’ve gotten interested in accounting again and I’m working on earning another Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
How do you cope with the stress of busy season and tax deadlines?
For me it’s avoiding switch tasking; sitting and finishing one task, giving it my full attention, and not stressing about other items. Taking my time and making sure everything is done in a timely and efficient manner. Going to the gym and relying on the team for assistance is also a big help.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
Being a new homeowner, I like to take on mini projects around the house, gardening, and working with my hands, taking the dogs out, and spending time with family.
What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
I have driven from coast to coast in the US.
Where’s your favorite place in the world?
Italy. I love pasta and Italian food. Culturally it was interesting to see the different parts of Italy – the Vatican, Rome, Colosseums, and Venice.
What is your motto or personal mantra?
Everything happens for a reason, both good and bad. You’re not going to be given something you can’t handle. If you do good, you will receive good back.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
I would want to slow down time. Not in the sense of freezing time, but being ultra-present in specific moments. To go back in time to specific moments.
What is one thing you would tell your 13-year-old self?
Enjoy the time you have with family and friends. Don’t worry about all the other stuff going on.
