Brian started working for Origin CPA Group in January 1997 after completing his Law Degree and passing the Bar exam in 1996. Brian graduated from the CU Business school in 1993 and obtained his CPA license in 1996. In February of 2004 Brian became a shareholder of Origin CPA Group. Brian practices in all areas of tax but in particular specializes in business formation issues, professional services, real estate investors and developers, partnership, employee compensation issues, small business planning, sale and acquisition of businesses and other change in ownership issues. Brian is also Founder & Owner of Elevate CPA Group that work exclusively with the financial services industry.
A Boulder native, Brian enjoys golfing, but mainly spending time with his two children. He was the third generation in his family to attend Boulder High School.
Brian is currently the treasurer of Dental Aid, a nonprofit providing dental services for the underserved. Brian served on the Board and as President of Volunteer Connection of Boulder County, on the Board and a Treasurer of Boulder Preparatory High School, and on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Society of CPAs.
What is the biggest pain point that you solve for clients?
Not just throwing out options or identifying a problem. I strive to inform and advise what direction I think my clients should take, but also support their ultimate decision.
What do you love about your clients?
The relationships. I love hearing about their professional and personal goals and triumphs. Building the relationship so we can become a trusted long-term advisor and confidant.
Biggest tip for your clients?
Tax savings is important, but always keep an eye on the practical aspects. Do the formalities of a plan work for you? Don’t expect a tax outcome if you don’t follow the formalities.

The creativity and complexity it allows.

Helping guide and change a 40-year traditional CPA practice to a proactive, high touch, transparent firm.
What/who inspires you?
My wife. She helps people in such a deep and meaningful way and has unending energy for helping.
